Bob Welcome recommends Classic Car Videos
Hello how are you today.
Classic car videos are extremely interesting to all enthusiasts as you can often see a similar car to the one which you own and hear the story about how that owner rebuilt it and where he obtained parts.
You can also see the vehicle being driven on a club run or at a car show and it is easier to compare it with other presented cars.
Not only can you see these things but you can replay the video until you are happy about a certain point which was previously unclear or disputed.
Classic car videos are also great because you can hear the cars start up and take off. Hearing the sound of the vehicle seems to put you right there on the spot, and you are better able to soak up the buzzing atmosphere.
Some Classic car types
When you go to a classic car show or event you soon realize just how many different makes and models there are and how nice some of them look.
To name a few of the more prominent models, Porsche, Ferrari, Mustang, Corvette, Buick, Rolls Royce, Jaguar and Viper. There are many others but these came to mind first.
Performance Restorations
Check out this classic car videos presentation which shows a highly modified and radical 1966 Corvette. One of the most aerodynamic cars to come out of Detroit.
(Note) -- The (7 minute) video may take 30/40 seconds to load even with Broadband. Be patient, then click on the arrow to start the video off. (It's worth waiting for).
This car is owned and built by Brent Jarvis of Performance Restorations at 1500 McCormick Blvd Mundelein, Illinois 60060. Brent’s contact details are
PH (847) 566-7469 and Fax (847) 566-7470.
Performance restorations provide stock restorations or modification rebuilds depending on what each customer wants.
There have been numerous modifications performed on his Corvette and the video will highlight it for you.
Some of the things that I have noticed are that the motor is a 555 cubic inch all aluminium big block with EFI which allows the car to idle at 1000 RPM.
It cranks 800 HP and has a roller cam.
There is a modified Richmond 6 speed gearbox and 345X35X18 rear tyres which Brent says are the largest radials that he could buy.
The rotors are the same size all round and adjustments have been made for this. It is fitted with performance friction racing pads, softer in front and harder in back with reduced line pressures to the rear.
The interior is almost completely stock with tan leather racing seats which have 6 point harnesses. Performance details are monitored through stock gauges which Brent says look very good and should be left just as they are.
Bodywork
The Corvette was totalled and it was decided then to rebuild the car in a modified way, to give something very different.
The lines of the car have been rebuilt so that they look very sharp and very importantly line up. This gives the car a very neat appearance. A lot of bodywork has been performed to achieve this.
While the car looks nice people realize that there is something very different and subtle about it and have trouble identifying just exactly what has been done.
That’s the sign of master craftsmanship. It is rare to find this type of detailed quality restoration.
Much engineering has gone into the development of the underside of the car, with narrowing, steering, braking and handling requiring particular attention.
This car is much more narrow than the late model Corvette.
The car is painted in Candy high tech paint and looks like an “orange” colour in the video, although in the real world it may look somewhat different.
Other muscle car videos
There are further videos to come including a GT3 RS 2008 Porsche, the all new Knight Rider Mustang, and others. There will be further pages linked from this classic car videos page featuring these cars.
