Monster Motormania CQThere’s no doubt that a ten day Motormania CQ event covering many motor sports will attract hordes of competitors, onlookers and most types of motor dealers. As found in the Morning Bulletin on 14th July 2010, the Camco Group Motormania CQ events details at Rockhampton Showgrounds on 24-25 July 2010. There is a notation that you can "Buy Your Tickets Online Today". 
There have been many write ups in the local paper about coming events and challenges, especially by Peter Murphy to the local lads. It will be a great competitive event in all aspects, a shot in the arm for the CQ area, and will be talked about for months. Want to see more of these types of events, then encourage everyone you know to support the 2010 and future years events. This event follows closely behind the recently successful Buddy’s Fire Hotrod and Street Machine Motorama which is a fund raiser for Camp Quality. Peter Murphy is one of the organizers of the Motormania CQ Street Sprint. Here is a video of the Sprint Track and some paper articles.
Here is another photo of a Torana burning rubber at the local Dragway at Benaraby. They say that this is a good way for the lads to "let their hair down" and drag in a sensible controlled way rather than on public roads.
At one stage Peter was wondering how many entries he would get from the lads for the Street Sprint. Hence the paper articles below, showing a photo of Peter and also there was a "have your say" column where car owners could write in and express their concerns etc. It appears from reading some of these that the price of entry has deterred some from entering. Lets see.
Your Story - Street Machine, Mud Buggy, Kart, Street Sprint!
Are you pumped up about the Motormania CQ events.
Below is a photo of a mud buggy at Kabra. If you don't like getting a wee bit muddy then this is not for you. Some parts of the mud track are a little deep and complete with many litres of muddy water to shower competitors as they bounce their way through. The All Hours Glass Grid Girls will be there as part of the overall motormania cq festivities. No doubt they would not be intending to end up covered in mud. Spectators are advised to bring their own comfy chairs and they are also allowed to camp at the track for free. You can find details about the Mud Racing Day here.
The Rocky Motor Show is also a very important part of the ten day motormania cq program and is being held at Stockland Rockhampton on the 17th and 18th July 2010. Come and see many smooth shiny classic cars and motorbikes. There are usually some very interesting displays at this show. Previous years have provided many rare classic cars with beautiful paint work and interiors.
Thirty entries have been received for the Capricorn Resort Rally to be held at the Capricorn Resort on Saturday 17th July 2010. This will be a part of the Queensland Rally Championship and some of the nominated cars are, V8 Ford and Holden, Subaru WRX, Mazda RX7 and others. You can view the cars at the Kookaburra Room from 9AM and the event starts at 10AM. See the cars in action at the Homestead. To get there from the resort, head towards the Golf Course, turn to the Homestead, and follow the Spectator Signs.
