The very daring and exciting Camco GroupRocky Street Sprint will go live on Saturday 24th July 2010 at the Rockhampton Show Grounds as part of the ten day overall Motormania CQ event.
Come out and see this event and get yourself all revved up. The smell of burning rubber, screeching tyres, revving engines, dust and smoke, and of course the all popular All Hours Glass Grid Girls.
News of this event has apparently reached across most of Australia as the cartoon below shows two prominent politicians lining up as well. They seem to be looking at each other, however they should be looking at the road in front of them.
Nobody will have to vote about the winner here as it will go to the best competitor on the day, and first across the line.
Melissa Mackay from All Hours Glass had indicated to me that she thought she may have been the only female competitor in the Sprint but it seems that she now has some Political opposition.

The Peter Murphy Challenge
As one of the organisers of this event Peter has issued a challenge to anyone who is interested, or who thinks they are good enough to come on down and line up for the sprint.

Don’t write Peter off too quickly as his Morrie has an engine with a V configuration. Saturday will tell the story.

Successful Rocky Street Sprint a Revving Success
The weekend has come and gone and all participators were effectively blown away by the sheer excitement that the sprint provided.
Imagine being able to line up and tear around the track on Saturday and Sunday. Then seeing what your times were, to see whether you are up in the lead or back in the dust.
All that's left now are quite a number of black tyre marks around the last corner heading into Exhibition Road. At one stage someone had pushed hard up the last leg and all we could hear was a lot of skidding as the brakes were applied.
There was room before the turn was made back into the showgrounds, but if you overshot the corner a backup was required.
More photos to come of the finish line.!!! Stay tuned!!!!

It seems that the winner receives the largest (gold) conrod and on down through size to silver and bronze. A nice touch.
Of course the All Hours Glass Grid Girls were present to add their enthhusiasm and spark to the presentation.
