The rocky swap is a swappers paradise

Like all swaps you have to keep moving as fast as you can to cover all the sites and even then you need about three pairs of eyes to make sure you didn�t miss anything.

After seven hours I called it a day, but there were still sites which I had not checked out as keenly as I would have liked or at all. This probably describes most swappers.

Arriving before daybreak, you could see some site holders rolled up in their swags. They may have driven half the night to get there anyway. Others were already talking to people about their parts.

One of the first items of interest was a little A Model Ford ute (pickup). It had Victorian number plates and looked like it was driven regularly.

The crowd gradually thickened and by 7am you had to start dodging people.

As far as I could find out there were close to 15000 people through the gates. I have not got a figure on how many went over the fence.

The two photos below were taken from the grandstand to get a better overall view of parts of the showground rocky swap event. You can get a bit of an idea of it�s size and crowd density.
