Here we have retrimmed some ski boat seats with
volcano red and cloudy sky grey marine vinyl.
The old seats were very tired, hard and torn and the
owner wanted to see them looking like new again.
Here are some photos of the seat rebuild.
Red back ski boat
On the left we have the rear view of the finished article with the matching red projectile stripes. The ski-boat is called red back and the stripes make it live up to its name.
If you are keen and want to trim up your seats with projectile rear stripes like these you will have to have your thinking cap on. But, as you can see it can be done.
The right hand photo shows some of the process of putting the seats together. The back insert and the side pieces had to be fitted in to the seat first, before the outside was added on. Of course then, the inner pieces have to be removed before sewing to the back piece.
Once again the inside and outside patterns are both made to meet at the centre lines drawn on the seat frame foam. How well these lines are drawn in determines the shape and finished look.
Red Back ski boat
Here’s a side on rear view and a front on view of the finished product. The owner is a very pleased man.
The bases of both ski-boat seats were rebuilt with some strong ply, on top and bottom. This reinforced the whole seat.
Here we are sewing the inserts to the inner arm pieces. Half inch foam is always used to give the seats a little more padding.
The front bucket seat cushions are sitting in front of the large rear seat, and on the right we have a photo from another angle for better viewing.
A nice finish but they would look better in my ski boat.
